Countdown to 1000: What’s Your “Get Started” Story?
This is a special week. This coming Friday I will share my 1000 consecutive Mentorvention post here and on social media. We’ve got four more between now and then, including today.
Let’s celebrate with some lessons learned, lessons that apply to this little endeavor that started way back in February, 2021.
Today’s lesson: The only way to start is to start.
What project, dream, or goal seemed impossible until you took that first step?
I’ll share mine. During grad school, a pivotal moment changed everything. I was bubbling with dissertation ideas, feeling productive. My professor cut through my excitement with one brutal question:
“Yes, but what have you written?”
My response: “Nothing, yet.”
His reply? “Then you haven’t even started. Get started.”
Those words were a wake-up call.
I want to know:
- What’s the project you’re putting off right now?
- What first step terrifies you?
- What advice would you give someone struggling to begin?
Drop your story in the comments. It’s not too late to start, so let’s create a community of starters, of those who transform potential into action.
Because here’s the truth: The only way to start is to START.
Challenge for you: Share ONE thing you’ll start this week. No matter how small. No matter how scary.
Comment below. I’m listening.
P.S. Stay tuned for my 1000th Mentorvention post this Friday – a milestone born from simply deciding to begin.
