Face Front! Friday!

Let’s show everyone how we’re celebrating the end of the week!

Post an image (you or a passable proxy) that shows how you’re feeling on this fine Friday.

Me?

Well, last week we met Monster Dave, a throwback to my corporate days, the start of my career, when I needed a bigger, stronger version of myself to deal with the overwhelm of work. This wasn’t a pretend me and it wasn’t a case of fakin’ it ‘til I was makin’ it. Monster Dave was still me, tapping into the tools in my superpower portfolio to rise to the challenge.

Then I made the Big Pivot and moved to academia. There, Monster Dave was helpless against the  Mystical Marketing Magi. Now I had to call on “Brainy Dave.” This version of me (pictured here courtesy of ChatGPT) had the power to slow down time and make his brain larger, large enough to finally craft perhaps the thinnest doctoral dissertation ever. Correction: Not thin. “Elegant.”

These personas—Monster Dave and Brainy Dave—were never permanent. Over time, they became integrated into the amalgamated Doctor Dave I am now. They’re not alter egos, exactly, but situation-specific versions of my best self, emerging when the moment demands.

So, here’s my question: What about you? How do you call on the different elements of who you are? How do you reach into your superpower portfolio when life gets overwhelming or complicated?

Drop a comment below or share your story—I’d love to hear how you bring out your inner superhero.

See you again on From-Me-to-You-Monday!
