Face Front! Friday!
Let’s show everyone how we’re celebrating the end of the week!
Post an image (you or a passable proxy) that shows how you’re feeling on this fine Friday.
Me? I’m feeling thoughtful. As we move toward a new academic year at the end of this month, I’m thinking about some of my teachers, the many mentors who have guided me throughout my career… in corporate and in academia. I wouldn’t be in my current happy place without them.
Sometimes, though, these relationships are more about navigating rough waters that can leave us questioning the methods and the motivations of our mentors. Sometimes the best lessons we can hope for are the unexpected ones—about resilience, self-reliance, finding alternative resources, and becoming more proactive in our own careers. Finding our own voice.
Over the next couple of weeks, I’m going to share stories about some of these more difficult relationships and experiences. And I’d love to hear from you—have you ever had a difficult mentoring experience? How did you survive it, and what did you learn?
Sharing our stories can help others navigate their own challenging situations and remind us all that even the most problematic pairings can offer valuable lessons and growth.
What do you think?
See you Monday
