From Me to You (and to Me, too): Halftime Show

It’s easy to give advice. I think I find it easy to take advice too.

But for me to heed the words that I say to others? Not so easy.

So this one is for both of us.

I was doing some math the other day and I realized this: I am finishing my 18th year at Dominican University. Fantastic years. And the very model of stability! Eighteen years.

Then there were the 18 years before that, starting from the time I earned my MBA, my miserable first job, my pivotal second job, several years earning my PhD, and my tumultuous first academic job, all leading up to my one career-altering year at Northern Illinois University. That was my halftime show. Eighteen years. Add them all up, those become some pretty big numbers.

You can make a change if you have to. Even if it’s not your idea.

You’re never too late to start.

You’re never too old to grow.

And the next 18 years? I’m excited about Act III.

How about your next act?

Just do the math.

You can do it. You’ll be glad you did.

(And so will I!)

See you tomorrow!
