Cracklin’ Rosie, Get on Board!
Over the past couple of days, I’ve been writing about legendary artist Neil Diamond. Now you might be thinking “Dave – I know you like celebrating birthdays of celebrities like Hank Aaron, Ron Santo, George Harrison, Jack Kirby, even Carrot Top – don’t you realize that Neil Diamond’s birthday isn’t until January?”
Well, thanks for reading! It’s true, Mr. Diamond has a few months to go until his 84th birthday but that’s not why we’re here.
You might think that “Cracklin’ Rosie” is about a woman, or a prostitute, or a bottle of wine, or even a train. Hey, it’s art. It’s about whatever you want it to be about.
It has a special meaning to me. It was the very first song that my beautiful bride and I danced to on our wedding day.
“Cracklin’ Rosie?” you say?
It wasn’t what we planned. It wasn’t what we chose. But it’s what the DJ played.
And so we danced. Get on board. It’s about whatever we want it to be about.
That being said, our actual first dance choice was “It Might Be You,” another beautiful song that’s a little more direct in terms of its meaning.
“And I’m feeling it’ll just be you
All of my life”
Yeah, our anniversary is tomorrow. See you then.
