Patton Pending

Have you heard this quote, one that has been attributed to many sources of wisdom, from Confucius to Mark Twain to pop singer Marc Anthony, that says “if you choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life.” Well, I love my job dearly yet sometimes it feels like plenty of work. A better quote might be attributed to General George Patton, “success is how high you bounce when you hit bottom.”

The path to a fulfilling career will likely be neither easy nor direct. You can continue to bounce back, from whatever bumps in the road or oil slicks you encounter.

Back to Patton’s quote. Everything is relative. We all descend to different depths throughout our lives, in terms of relationships, finances, careers. Seek success as defined by the General. Most important, never feel like you’re done with your ascent, your path back up.
