Frequent readers of my posts (like you, and thank you!) know that we tend to drive while others might fly. This includes our visits to the kids in Tennessee and Alabama.

You also know that our last two trips, in January and April, did not end well.

And now… another trip.

Will this traffic-trepidation trip end badly AGAIN?

Or will our unlucky streak finally end?

Well, to help us our daughter gave us this little give from her honeymoon in Tokyo… a genuine kotsu-anzen (交通安全) omamori, or traffic safety amulet.

(this is one of six types of protective charms, along with health protection, financial fortune, love, education, and protection from evil)

And it worked! Our ride home was effortless and we arrived safe and sound.
