Worth It Thursday: What is the cost of NOT working with you?
We’re getting toward the end of the week and to help us make it to the weekend, I’d like to share some reasons why you are worth whatever you are being paid (or think you should be paid) and more.
Here’s why you are worth your reward (and please help me add to this list!):
Think about it like this: What is the cost of NOT working with you?
It’s so important to understand your own value and communicate that effectively to the people around you and above you. Are you brave enough to make it known that there is a cost to not work with you?
This requires self-awareness, confidence, and the ability to articulate your skills, experience, and unique qualities in a compelling way.
Go ahead, take a few minutes to practice.
I’ll help. For starters, what is your USP, your unique selling point or value proposition. What sets you apart from others in your field, in terms of accomplishments, skills, experiences, education, creativity?
You don’t have to be the best in the world, or even the best in the company. Just be ready to be the best at someone’s moment of need.
Who are you working with? What problem are they trying to solve? Now tailor your message to address those needs directly.
This unique combination of you and your gifts, and them and their needs: what can you all create that no other combination can match?
You plus Them equals an unmatchable Us.
And if they say “no”?
Their loss.
You’ll be ready when they come back, or when the next opportunity comes knocking.
Because you know that you are worth all that and more.
What do you think?
See you tomorrow!
