Worth It Thursday: What do others earn?

We’re getting toward the end of the week and to help us make it to the weekend, I’d like to share some reasons why you are worth whatever you are being paid (or think you should be paid) and more.

Here’s why you are worth your reward (and please help me add to this list!):

What do other people in similar positions and roles get paid?

We do have to account for differences in important factors like experience, industry, and cost of living in different areas.

And so should employers.

(Although early in my career, I did have a job that did not account for/care about economic factors, and colleagues in the same position and life stage as me had to take second jobs just to make ends meet. Not cool, former and deservedly defunct employer!)

These days, there are a variety of tools to narrow the information gap, whether you’re buying a car or planning a trip or negotiating your salary. Do a search for “salary comparison” or consider sites like Glassdoor, Indeed, LinkedIn Salary, Monster, ZipRecruiter, CareerBuilder and others.

The information is out there. Take control and gather that information.

And know that you are worth all that and more.
