Add Friction to your Bad Fiction
We all have bad habits, and even momentarily lapses in concentration or will power that move us away from the story we’re really trying to create.
A way to overcome bad habits is to make them harder to take, not harder to break.
Add friction to whatever path leads you to those habits.
Put your phone at the opposite end of the room. Delete distracting apps.
Hide the remotes. Hide the dessert in the back of the fridge or better yet, don’t have them in the house.
And here’s something that helps me: set up a specific time to indulge the distraction so at least you know you’ll get to it soon… but not right now.
You’ve got more important things to do.
What do you think?
See you tomorrow!
