Just cut it out
Just cut it out
Writing tip of the day.
If you are struggling with a particular sentence or paragraph, consider just deleting it.
The reasons for this extra effort that’s getting you nowhere could be because:
– you’ve already said it better elsewhere
– you aren’t really sure what it adds
– you are having trouble putting your idea into words
– you don’t really believe it
So delete it. Or move it somewhere else (another document, or the very end of the one you’re working on) where it can’t bother you anymore.
Then get back to writing. Maybe later the right words, better words, will flow from your brain to your fingers. Or maybe you won’t miss it at all.
Problem solved.
This might also apply to other things too, right?
