Welcome to Marketing 626 and our blog, Mentorvention
For some of you, the online course experience is something new. For others, who have already taken another online course, this may still feel like something different.
As we draw closer to the start of our time together (officially, July 1st), I hope to address some of your early questions here on our blog. If you have comments or other questions, please feel free to comment on this posting or send me your thoughts: daron@dom.edu. Here are some questions that might be on your mind, with more to follow in the coming weeks.
FAQs part I:
Why is this blog called Mentorvention?
This blog is dedicated to our day-to-day conversations about our class project. This summer you’ll work with a real live client, one that needs our help… a marketing mentoring intervention. A Mentorvention!
Who is the client for our project?
Our client is a local treasure, Val’s Halla (http://valshallarecords.com/)
How did you choose this client?
Throughout my career I have brought many different businesses to my students as clients for class projects. Some of these have been nationally known and some local. Some have been for profit and some non-profit. Several have been Dominican University-related. There have been several brand-new start-ups. The match between client and class is often one based on timing, need, and opportunity.
Val’s Halla meets these criteria. The timing is right, the need is there, and this is an opportunity for you to help set the marketing path for a real firm and you will definitely have your client’s attention.
Can I comment on these blog posts?
Definitely and I hope you will. This is set up to host our online class discussion. The first time you comment, I have to approve it (helps keep strangers out of ourclassroom) so it might not appear right away. Also, if you use a different email address or include several links in your post, I have to approve.
What do you think?
